Desperately seeking justice, mercy, humility and love.
Rozella Haydée White is a life and leadership coach, creator, and consultant. She is the owner of RHW Consulting, which focuses on accompanying individuals, organizations and communities as they figure out how to live meaningful lives by embracing the fullness of who they are. As a writer, teacher, preacher and public theologian, Rozella is a known presence, boldly engaging issues of faith, justice, self awareness and love, mental illness and the radical and transformative love of God as embodied in the person of Jesus. She is committed to the pursuit of justice and is a co-founder of #ResistHouston, a community of connection, empowerment and support for resistance against injustice. Rozella is desperately seeking justice, mercy, humility and love. She believes that everyone is gifted and has the power to transform themselves, their communities and the world when they tap into their most authentic self.
Rozella currently serves as the Houston City Director for Mission Year, a faith based gap year organization committed to walking with young adults as they fall in love with Jesus and the city, come alive in their gifts and purpose, build beloved community across dividing lines and become advocates for God’s justice in our neighborhoods and world. She is a consultant with LEAD, a leadership development organization focused on empowering Christian leaders, transforming faith communities and influencing the world. Rozella previously served as the Director for Young Adult Ministry for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), one of the largest protestant denominations in the United States.
Rozella began blogging about her experience with major depressive disorder and generalized anxiety disorder in 2012. Her blog, Embracing My Shadow, began as an attempt to publicly share about her struggles and her journey of self discovery. The blog has evolved to be a place where she shares the story of her ongoing effort to accept her WHOLE self; of seeking radical self-love and helping others do the same.
Rozella is also the co-founder of Sacred Travel Journeys, a soon-to-be non-profit organization striving to foster awareness, peace and love through travel journeys that transform the soul. Sacred Travel Journeys is committed to providing life-changing experiences for people of color, young adults and families. These journeys call participants into relationship with their global brothers and sisters in order to grow in their knowledge of self, others and their role in addressing issues of injustice in their home community.
Rozella is a contributing author for Renew 52: 50+ Ideas to Revitalize Your Congregation by Leaders Under 50 (Luther Seminary), Anonymous: Naming the God of Esther and the Women who Plant Churches (CreateSpace), and has co-authored Free Indeed: Devotions for Lent 2017 (Augsburg Fortress) and the LEAD Work Out Guide: Calling People of Faith into Meaningful, Wider Relationships (CreateSpace). Along with publishing articles in Gather Magazine, she also writes for The Salt Collective and has also blogged for Living Lutheran, ShePreaches Magazine, Believe Out Loud, Café, The Mudroom and Thirty Seconds or Less. Rozella’s first solo book, #LoveBig: The Power of Revolutionary Relationships to Heal the World will be published by Theology for the People, a division of Fortress Press in 2018.
